The Chamber is looking forward to welcoming Kevin Conolly MP to the Riverstone Memorial Club at 6.30pm this evening to chair a Q & A on the West Schofields and Marsden Park North Precinct Plans. Thankfully, Kevin came to us first when the Plans were announced and there's still plenty now to discuss, from housing to infrastructure, which is contained in the multiple documents supporting the recent exhibitions. As a Chamber, and on behalf of the many businesses we have spoken to since the plans were announced, there are a number of concerns:
· That nearly 10,000 homes are meant to be built in West Schofields and Marsden Park North without any improvements to the supporting infrastructure.
· That infrastructure will only be improved when 75% of a total 90,000 planned new homes have been built. On current estimates, that won't be for at least another 20 years.
· That the Garfield Road West/Riverstone rail intersection in the technical reports supplied is judged 'F' for Fail.
· Until it's roads are fixed, the economic costs to Riverstone's businesses and its residents will grow exponentially - from the time lost waiting in traffic jams to higher fuel costs. Far from supporting the North West Growth strategy, Riverstone's business increasingly feel they're being left behind.
