    Therapeutic Case Worker

    24 hours per week

    Fixed Term Contract until  December 2026 with possibility of permanency

     As a neighbourhood/community centre, we aim to build strong community connections, offering a range of opportunities and meaningful activity that can improve health and wellbeing, economic and social outcomes.

    NWCS has an exciting role for a suitably qualified and experienced professional to join our Mental Health and Wellbeing Team, providing therapeutic case management and group-based services. The position will commence late January 2026.

    The Position

    The Mental Health and Wellbeing Team is funded by a range of NSW Government Departments, Western Sydney Primary Health Network and private donors. The program seeks to work with our most vulnerable community members, providing person centred and trauma informed case work services.  The position will engage with youth, children and parents/carers, delivering therapeutic casework and client centred support services. The position will also offer group based activities, including supported playgroup. The position will work with clients to develop appropriate goals, understand needs, navigate the service system and focus on building capacity to achieve enhanced life outcomes. The position will build strong relationships and referral pathways with internal and external stakeholders, and contribute to continuous quality improvement.

    The successful candidate will have the following essential requirements:

    • Tertiary qualifications in mental health/ social science/ human services/community services

    • Commitment to social justice, cultural diversity, accountability and integrity

    • Demonstrated experience with trauma informed and person centred practice

    • Five years industry experience delivering client centred case work services to vulnerable people and those with complex needs

    • Demonstrated experience delivering group-based programs for children, young people and parents/carers

    • Strong level of communication, written and interpersonal skills, particularly when working with people from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds and with diverse stakeholders

    • High level computer skills, documentation, client data management systems and attention to detail

    • Ability to manage a high volume workload

    • National Police Check, Working with Children Check and First Aid (or willing to attain)

    • Drivers Licence and comprehensively insured motor vehicle

    Desirable Criteria

    • Membership of Australian Association of Social Workers, or other relevant entity
