Riverstone Neighbourhood Centre has been providing services and programs to the local community since November 1977. We have a long and proud history of working with local people and local services to improve life opportunities, build social cohesion, promote belonging and inclusion. We provided over 800,000 occasions of contact with residents via information, casework, programs, activities, outreach services, social media and events throughout 2017-18.
Riverstone Neighbourhood Centre manages a number of buildings in the Sam Lane Complex at Riverstone. This includes our Neighbourhood Centre, the Community Hall , a Youth Centre, a Men’s Shed and large Community Garden. We are open Monday – Friday. We are accessible by train and bus.
We have been providing a range of services and programs (dependant on funding at any point in time) for residents across the lifespan, from birth through to the senior years.
We provide a wonderful array of group activities throughout the week along with events throughout the year targeting specific cohorts/issues, for eg, naidoc week, mums and bubs exercise etc. We provide an extensive aged support program with many different group activities running each week. For eg, exercise, mens social support, partchwork, friendship group etc. We convene two local interagencies to build strong relationships with local service providers, identify emerging needs and trends and striving to find solutions together to meet those unmet needs. These are the Koori Interagency, and the Riverstone Interagency. We offer a range of client centred services, including casework and we have services providing outreach from our centre. These include financial support, health services, domestic violence, Aboriginal services etc. This outreach model allows us to ensure our clients receive a holistic model of care to access as many services as possible locally. Where this isn’t possible, we refer to a broad array of services across Western Sydney based on an individuals needs.
